Antique Tibetan Furniture
Tibetan antique furniture is always been quite rare. Except for the wealthy, Tibetans used very little furniture in their homes, and the population of Tibet has always been so small that not much was ever made. Most of it was probably always found in the monasteries, and of course most of these monasteries had been destroyed during the "Cultural Revolution" along with huge amounts of furniture. Made primarily from pine and other Himalayan soft woods, it is noted more for its sometimes lavishly painted surface and/or carved decoration than for its joinery.
Victoria Export offers huge collection of the finest, old, authentic Tibetan furniture, and Himalayan tribal art e.g. tables, chests, cabinets, incense holder and boxes. That furniture is 60-150 years old and come from monasteries and homes throughout Tibet. Each piece has been carefully selected to ensure the finest quality. Everything has been carefully cleaned and expertly restored, ready to be placed in your home.
Every piece featured in this Web site has been selected with great care which are constructed and used in Tibetan Society. These antique pieces are dedicated to those who appreciate the cultural significance and beauty of Tibetan Buddhism and the legacy embodied in this furniture. |
